Virtual Reality & Immersive Technology 1:1 Sessions In-Person
What to expect
Using the 3D Organon Virtual Reality application as an example in the Session, you will get a chance to be immersed into the world of anatomical education.
During this 1.5-hour session, you'll delve into the fascinating realm of human anatomy using cutting-edge virtual reality technology.
Session Overview: You will be guided through the application where you'll explore the human body in intricate detail. The session leader will demonstrate how to navigate to the applications in VR, ensuring you understand the technology's functions and features.
Getting Started: Upon arrival, you'll be introduced to the VR headset and controllers, and be assisted in wearing the headset comfortably and explain the basic controls. Once you're immersed in the virtual environment, you'll see how intuitive it is to interact with anatomical structures.
Exploring the Application: Throughout the session, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Zoom in on specific organs and systems, such as the skeletal region, cardiovascular and the nervous system as a whole.
- Rotate and manipulate anatomical models to view them from different angles.
- Peel away layers of tissue to reveal underlying structures, aiding in deeper understanding.
Interactive Learning: Imagine discussing the intricacies of a beating heart, tracing nerve pathways, or examining bone structures up close—all in an environment that fosters interactive learning. You'll be encouraged to engage actively with the virtual models, ask questions, and discuss how these tools could enhance your teaching methodologies.
Utilisation for Teaching: We invite you to consider how you might integrate this technology into your teaching practices. Whether you're a medical educator, researcher, or student, the 3D Organon VR application offers limitless possibilities for enhancing anatomy education. You can simulate surgical procedures, create interactive lessons, or facilitate collaborative learning experiences for your students.
The Following Controlled Measured Assessment is required to be read & reviewed before using the Virtual Reality Headsets
Suitability of room – enough “play area” relevant to the activity taking place i.e activity requires participant to sit or walk around.
- A ‘guardian’ must always be present to support the participant and is responsible for the following:
- Reviewing the surroundings and clearing obstacles
- Preventing bystanders from entering the designated VR area
- Warning participant if they are in danger of coming into contact with furniture or other obstacle.
- Use in a seated position if movement is not required in the software being used.
- Where the VR Headset is tethered the “guardian” should ensure that the cable connecting the headset to the laptop/PC does not become a trip hazard or become tangled.
