Managing your research data effectively Online

**Understand the data lifecycle and how to plan for, organise, and share research data throughout your project.**

This session is primarily aimed at 1st year PGRs but is open to all researchers.

Session details

This introductory workshop provides a practical overview of research data management (RDM) and why it matters. You’ll explore the concept of RDM, its key benefits, and how good data practices can support more efficient, ethical, and reproducible research. The session will introduce the stages of the research data lifecycle, highlight essential elements of a data management plan (DMP), and offer guidance on how to incorporate data management practices into your research workflow. It’s ideal for those new to managing data or writing a DMP.

By the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Understand what research data management involves.
  • Recognise the benefits of good data management practices.
  • Identify key components of a data management plan.
  • Apply data management strategies to your own research.

Session logistics

The session includes 1 hour of teaching followed by 30 minutes for questions. It is open to all researchers and will be delivered online via Teams or on-campus (please check when booking). For any questions, please contact the Library.
