AI for researchers (Online) Online

**Understand how to use AI for searching for information, writing and also issues around plagiarism.**

This session is primarily aimed at 1st year PGRs but is open to all researchers.

Session details

Curious about how to use AI in your research without crossing the line into plagiarism? Can AI improve your literature search? Will it save you time in your writing? This session will encourage you to share your experiences and questions whilst helping you make informed choices about using AI.

You’ll explore the risks of bias, hallucinations, and misinformation in AI while developing the critical thinking skills needed to evaluate its output. With hands-on activities and live AI demonstrations, you’ll see these concepts in action and leave feeling more confident about using AI responsibly and ethically in your research.

This is an interactive workshop where you will need to bring your own device.

By the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Make informed choices about using AI for searching.
  • Assess the reliability of AI outputs in academic writing.
  • Detect AI-related plagiarism risks and apply strategies to avoid them.
  • Reflect on your own AI use and decide on transparent ways to report it in your research.
