Northumbria Student Academic Journal - Peer review In-Person
Have You Ever Wondered How Peer Review Actually Works?
The Northumbria Student Academic Journal is looking for students to take part in facilitated peer review sessions this April — no prior experience necessary.
Peer review is central to academic publishing, this session is designed to demystify the process and give you the chance to try it in a supported, low-stakes environment.
What's involved?
You'll attend a 2-hour session and working with other students, will provide structured feedback on an anonymised submission. Most submissions are from our current special issue on Representations of Neurodiverse and Queer Identity, though there are also a small number of general issue submissions available. You'll be guided throughout by library and editorial staff and given a template to structure your review.
When will it take place?
-
Wednesday 29 April 1-3pm
This opportunity is ideal if you:
-
Want to understand the peer review process from the reviewer's perspective
-
Are thinking about submitting to journals and want to see what reviewers look for
-
Are interested in how academic publishing works
We are particularly looking for reviewers with relevant experience or expertise for our special issue on Neurodiverse and Queer Identities but also have other submissions for review on AI, healthcare and psychology.
